Public Notices

Notice of Public Review/Comment Period

(August 29, 2014) - The City of Youngstown is making its most recent Consolidated Annual Performance Evaluation Report (CAPER) available for public comment. The purpose of the 30 day review period (August 30-September 30) is to allow citizens the opportunity to view and comment on the activities during the program year. Comments will be accepted until September 29, 2014 and will become part of the submission to HUD. Refer to the following documents for more information.

D.O.D. Innovative Readiness Training Request

(August 28, 2014) - The Department of Defense IRT will provide demolition services and trash/brush removal services at no cost to the City of Youngstown and its citizens. These activities will take place in the following areas: Upper North Heights, Brier Hill/Arlington Heights, and Lansingville. The intent of the project is to stabilize these areas and curb further population decline. Properties will be cleared of trash, brush, and debris after demolitions take place and will be available for adjacent property owners to purchase at fair market value. Questions, concerns or comments regarding the occupational, environmental or cultural impact, or any other influence that this program may have should be addressed to Mayor John McNally, City of Youngstown, 1st Floor City Hall, 26 S. Phelps Street, Youngstown, Ohio 44503. Persons who have not submitted comments by September 9, 2014, will be considered to have waived their objections to the participation of the Department of Defense IRT and the City of Youngstown in this project.

Garbage Collection Affected by Labor Day Holiday

(August 27, 2014) - Garbage collection in the City of Youngstown will be a day late during the Labor Day Holiday week. Please place your garbage at the curb the day following your normal collection day.

Raccoon Oral Rabies Vaccine Project

(August 20, 2014) - The Youngstown City Health District will begin this year's Raccoon Oral Rabies Vaccine (ORV) Project on September 3, 2014. Completion should occur by the end of September, weather permitting. The goal of the project is to immunize thousands of wild raccoons by placing baits containing rabies vaccine throughout the City of Youngstown, Ohio. This year, with support from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service’s (APHIS) Wildlife Services program, approximately 3,000 baits will be spread throughout the City. Immunizing the raccoon population helps to reduce the number of rabid animals and the number of human and pet exposures to rabies. Click here for more information.
