Funds to Clean-up Former YBM Site

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Controlling Board will release $854,935 to clean up the former Youngstown Building Material property.

Upon completion of this project, the 9.31-acre site will be transformed as part of a low-impact, sustainable industrial corridor along the Crab Creek. Clean-up activities at the site will lead to the direct implementation of the recommendations made by the Youngstown 2010 Plan, .

The Ohio Department of Development awarded the Clean Ohio Revitalization Funds to the city of Youngstown. The city will use the funds in order to remove pollution from the soil and groundwater, remove asbestos, and demolish nine structures including foundations, Hagan says.
